Our fine organization is based in Fribourg, Switzerland. Its history goes back to 2003, when one of the founders was producing the first fat powder skis on a carbon fibre base. Two ambitious engineers contacted him to improve the existing ski core structure.

With plenty of endurance during infinite garage research nights and powder weekends, the friends developed novel fibre composite technologies and discovered the advantages of natural fibres. This was the spark for the idea to produce performing sustainable products for the Sports & Leisure industry.

2013

This year started very good for Bcomp during the most important winter sport exhibition ISPO. Two skis built with the ampliTex UD fabric have been awarded. The LYNXs of the small company IDRIS out of chamonix won in the category freeride and the Otwo from Stöckli even the Gold Award as best on piste ski.

Another milestone was reached by the introduction of the smart near net-shape conversion. With this technology the customers of the bCores produce 50% less waste. One month later, in February 2013, Bcomp obtains the rigorous CTI Start-up Label. Inspired by the surf industry the low twist products ampliTex light are taking the sustainable composite world to the next level. The first whole body part reinforced with the power ribs technology was showed in Paris with the bioMobile at the JEC 2013.

2012

During ISPO 2012, Bcomp launches the "Play naturally smart" label to promote eco superior product and markets with its customers the first applications.

3A Composites and Bcomp Ltd enter 2012 into a cooperation for the development, production and marketing of innovative, engineered core material solutions. These solutions, combining 3A Composites’ leading structural core materials with Bcomp’s innovative, natural fibre technologies, will optimally meet the customers need.

In March 2012 Swiss Investors are financing the growth of Bcomp Ltd. in a sustainable way. The majority of the share remains to the four founders. Christian Beer, Thomas Rauber, Christian Fischer and cYrille Boinay are elected to the board.

During the JEC in Paris, Bcomp launches the bCore D200 - a light and smart core material based on natural fibres and balsa wood. A month later, Bcomp's power ribs technology is awarded with the TOP 20 Hermes Award.

The ambitious jury of Venture2012 believes in Bcomp's business plan and ranks it with the 3rd place out of 137 companies and the de Vigier Foundation nominates Bcomp for the Entrepreneurship Prize 2012.

With a tensile modulus of 32 GPa and a tensile strength of 383 MPa Bcomp starts to market the ampliTex non crimp fabrics. Today, in September 2012 these products are considered as the stiffest and strongest natural reinforcement avaiable.

In the meantime the revolutionary saddle sheet concept SR2 BioComp wins the Eurobike Award 2012. A fruitful result of a collaboration between ERGON and Bcomp.

The experts of startup.ch are ranking Bcomp as number 10 out of 100'000 new companies. Bcomp is considered as the best cleantech startup in Switzerland. By the end of the year 2012, Bcomp was finalist for the innovation price fribourg.
