Our high-performance natural fibre reinforcements ampliTex™, powerRibs™ and the bCores™ core materials offer viable alternatives to standard engineering materials. These technologies enable new opportunities in the construction and development of more sustainable and lightweight products.

We collaborate with leading universities and research institutions around the world to constantly develop our products and their applications. The satellite panel created together with the European Space Agency is the result of a close collaboration where the materials have been tested in the most extreme conditions.

Aiming to make space exploration cleaner and safer, the first natural fibre reinforced satellite panel showcases the high versatility of powerRibs™ and ampliTex™. Developed within the framework of the European Space Agency Clean Space Initiative, this bio-composite satellite panel creates new opportunities for “Design for Demise”.

Ritsumasyl record-breaking bio-composite bridge

The world’s first bio-based movable bicycle bridge has been inaugurated in the Netherlands. Part of the public road network, the 66 metres long and 4 metres wide bridge consists of 80% biobased materials, using Bcomp’s ampliTex™ technical flax fabrics for reinforcement in combination with balsa wood.

Using the finest, specially selected, most carefully treated and artisanally hand-woven linen fibres from Swiss Emmenthal, we created a customised ampliTex™ UD fabric for the innovative watchmaker Hublot.

Our flax fibres are CO2 neutral over their life cycle, and the fibres themselves are biologically decomposable. The production of parts made from ampliTex™ and powerRibs™ has a 85% lower CO2 footprint than that of thin-walled monolithic carbon fibre parts with equal weight and stiffness performance. Production consumables are reduced, saving both costs and waste. At the end of their life, parts can be used for thermal energy recovery without residual waste within the standard waste management system rather than ending up in landfills.


Bcomp’s ampliTex™ is available as dry fibre or natural fibre prepreg from trusted partners and can be used for thermoset or thermoplastic production methods, including vacuum infusion, autoclave, prepreg compression moulding (PCM) and RTM processes. Our engineering team provides market leading customer support from start to final product and can help with the reverse-engineering of existing parts.
